Coastal Shiplap Kitchen
Oceanside Kitchen Studio built this kitchen over seven weeks on site, where a charcoal shiplap island and a warm wood range hood ground a bright white perimeter. We specified corrosion-resistant hardware throughout, because the house sits four blocks from the Vancouver Island shoreline.
What changed
This house sat close enough to the water that the previous hinges had rusted through in under a decade. We specified every hinge, runner and pull corrosion-rated, and sealed each cabinet box on all six faces rather than just the visible ones. We took out a short return wall to give the range a proper hood position, which meant re-routing the vent through the roof instead of the gable. Seven weeks on site, and the new hood run pulls 600 CFM where the old recirculating unit barely moved any air.
